Every now and again you get an offer you can't quite believe!

This one was to work with the International Coach Federation (ICF) on an article for The Guardian to increase awareness of career coaching at all stages of life.
It was published 25 Jan 2024 and you can read the article here https://www.theguardian.com/coaching-for-success/2024/jan/25/thinking-of-getting-a-career-coach-five-things-to-consider-before-you-sign-up
Aside from being quoted as 'Hodkinson says', a phrase that has made my friends and family giggle, the article captured the key elements of my interview with Emma Shepherd and distilled it into five key points to think about when approaching coaching:
Have a goal - this is your life and your chance to work on the outcomes you want.
Work with a Certified Coach - give yourself the confidence that your coach knows what they are doing and will work with you in a professional and ethical way.
Look for a coach you click with. Look out for the signs that you feel at ease and comfortable to share your inner thinkings (even the bits that make you cringe). And look for signs that you feel challenged. A coach is there to help you go where you can't go on your own.
Set boundaries - your coach will guide you through this conversation. It covers practical stuff and also what's important about how you work together and build trust and safety.
Ask yourself the big questions - If you allow yourself to ask big questions and to go deep into who you are, you will get more from coaching. Who am I? Where am I needed? What is my work in this world?
Have a read of the whole article and let me know what you think.
