The rhythm and routine of life

Don't you just love those days when you don't have to set an alarm clock. Typically it's when you're not working and you've got the freedom to choose what you do with your day. We all love our holidays and some people yearn to be retired in order to get on with all the stuff you've been waiting to do.

But what if you've got all the time yet are not clear what you want to do? What if you realise that endless days without purpose are hard to organise and gain fulfillment? Yes, the ideal is sometimes harder to gain satisfaction from than you imagine.

When you have the rhythm and routine of a life; going to work, taking the kids to school, seeing friends, doing the shopping there is little time to think about what is going on, other than craving a break from the merry go round of life.

Whichever situation you find yourself in, finding the way to your purpose and meaning in this world often builds over time.

Start to explore your purpose, it springs from your identity and the essence of who you are:

  • Write your childhood story: what did you especially love doing when you were a child before the world told you who should be?

  • What have been your most challenging life experiences and how have they shaped you?

  • What gives you energy and joy in your life now?

Share these thoughts with friends and family. Ask them what they experience of your uniqueness in this world.

Start there. I'd love to know what emerges for you. To take this further and evolve it into your authentic leadership purpose, contact me for coaching.
